TreCarli
Canavese DOC Rosso
Red wine
Today it is a rare vine, but Neretto di San Giorgio will definitely have been the most common grape variety at the time of the “Goveno dei Trecarli” in the Canavese district. It was the beginning of the 19th century: Carlo Bossi, Carlo Botta and Carlo Giulio, three Piedmontese Jacobeans, seized power and would walk back and forth on a hill behind our winery to discuss politics and decide their strategies. It is stilled called the “collina dei Tre Carli” (the hill of the Three Carlos), today. In the days of the three Carlos, everyone undoubtedly drank Neretto. It was the most common grape. Today it is a niche wine, made in very limited quantities, resulting from research aimed at rediscovering the native grape varieties of the Province of Turin.
